Innovative Use of Subterranean Space
Due to Toronto's zoning limitations, the Iceberg House maximizes underground space, offering 14 meters of innovative design. The lower basement features a media room and nightclub, complete with custom curved K-Array subwoofers that deliver powerful sound without compromising space. These hidden audio solutions exemplify how technology can blend into the environment.
Hidden AV Technology
The home incorporates a Barco projector hidden in a custom slider and discreet James Loudspeaker systems for immersive audio. Outdoor entertainment is powered by weather-resistant K-Array speakers, ensuring seamless sound across the backyard. Whether hosting events or enjoying quiet family time, the house’s audio-visual system transforms every moment into a premium experience.
Customizable Smart Lighting
A standout feature of the Iceberg House is its sophisticated Lutron lighting system! This includes Alisse and Palladiom keypads and a $1 million lighting budget to create a customizable ambiance throughout the entire home. Integrated with Crestron control, the lighting system offers scenes for every occasion you can imagine, from parties to relaxed evenings and beyond. Unique features include sensor-activated floating stairs, with lighting effects triggered as you ascend or descend.
Advanced Control & Automation
Crestron controls provide centralized management of the home’s mechanical systems, from HVAC and audio zones to a custom water purity monitoring system. The system includes redundancy on a Cisco Meraki network, ensuring reliable performance. Global lighting scenes even lock out keypads during parties and provide security with controlled access to private areas, including a master suite with integrated elevator control.
A Masterclass in Integration
The Iceberg House exemplifies how advanced technology can merge with design to create a functional yet aesthetically pleasing living space. Features like motorized millwork for hidden video conferencing systems and custom iPad charging drawers highlight the attention to detail in merging utility and luxury.
With its innovative solutions, from hidden AV equipment to advanced Crestron and Lutron integration, the Iceberg House sets a benchmark for smart home design. It’s a masterclass in how discreet, high-performance technology can transform a home into an extraordinary experience for work, play, and family life.
